Angel Romero has taken the decisive step and has already undergone the medical examination that will officially make him a new Boca player. The Paraguayan footballer arrived in the country in the last few hours and completed the tests at the Genea medical center, a prior step to signing his contract with the La Ribera club, as reported by the Argentine News Agency. The forward arrived as a free agent after leaving Corinthians, where he was a regular during the 2025 season and accumulated over 50 official matches.

"There is always contact," Ubeda stated. With the Apertura tournament already underway and after the debut victory against Deportivo Riestra, Claudio Ubeda is awaiting final authorization to include him in training. Although it is unlikely that he will debut immediately against Estudiantes de La Plata, Boca is celebrating having secured their first reinforcement and trusts that Romero will bring experience, hierarchy, and goals to a squad that seeks to compete on all fronts.

Romero will sign a one-year contract with an option to extend for another season and will thus become the first reinforcement of the 2026 cycle. Before traveling, Romero had already made his enthusiasm for the challenge clear: "Coming from the call from Román, it's very tempting to play at Boca," the Paraguayan player acknowledged, who also revealed that Juan Román Riquelme first contacted his brother Óscar, who had already played for the club. "I was at a very popular club and am arriving at one of the biggest in the world," he added. At 33, Romero will seek to get back into physical shape as quickly as possible after having been without competition for almost a month, while he also has a clear objective on the horizon: to be considered again by Gustavo Alfaro for the Paraguay national team for the 2026 World Cup: "I spoke with Alfaro before making the decision."
